ROMEOVILLE, Ill.--Michigan Tech outscored Gannon 32-12 over the last 7:18 of the game and captured an 81-75 victory Saturday in a quarterfinal game of the NCAA Division II men's basketball Great Lakes Regional Championship at Lewis University.

Trailing 63-49, the fourth-seeded Huskies (22-7) went on a 3-point shooting rampage. Josh Buettner nailed three treys and Kelsey Fors made two as Tech sliced the Gannon lead to 68-65 with 3:32 to play.

After Buettner and Fors each sank a pair of free throws to make it 70-69 Gannon, Tech's Radayl Richardson made a steal and a layup to give the Huskies the lead for good. Buettner followed with a basket, and Tech secured the win by converting eight consecutive free throws.

Gannon (22-8) shot .560 from the field and held Michigan Tech to .333, including .238 from 3-point distance, in building a 32-29 halftime lead.

Tech scored the first five points of the second half to grab a 34-32 edge, but the Knights seemingly gained control with a 16-4 run that put them on top 48-38 at the 13:54 mark.

Buettner led all scorers with 25 points and was joined in double figures by Jason Marcotte with 15, Fors with 14 and Jeff McHenry with 12. Marcotte collected five assists.

Iren Rainey scored 22 points and added four assists for Gannon, which also received 17 points and a game-high seven rebounds from Geoff Husted, 14 points from Brandon Andrews and five assists from Forrest Kirby.

Michigan Tech was 14 of 40 (.350) from 3-point distance, 24 of 60 (.400) overall and 19 of 20 (.950) at the foul line. Gannon finished at .593 overall but shot just .308 (4 of 13) beyond the arc and 7 of 9 at the stripe.
